I found a colony of cats living by a bowling alley next to the freeway. I would feed them or take them milk everyday. A neighborhood bully would tease me for doing this and call me "cat lady". One day he kicked the box that housed the cats out onto the freeway. The box was crushed under a semi-truck. I thought they were gone forever. I found out later that earlier in the day my homeless friend Emilia had relocated the cats away from the freeway and behind the bowling alley. The cats were all safe and most of them were eventually adopted. That is the backstory for this songs lyrics.
